OGDEN — Lacking funding and a permanent new home, a northern Utah rescue operation for endangered birds could be forced to close, leaving the birds at risk of being euthanized.

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah takes in injured birds and helps rehabilitate them for release back into the wild.

Once part of the Ogden Nature Center, budget struggles forced the rehab center became its own entity earlier this year. It still operates from the nature center site, but must relocate by June 30.

Conservation outreach director Phil Douglass says that if WRCNU can't find a new home, the birds may have to be euthanized.

Lone staffer DaLyn Erickson says she gets daily calls from people asking for information about saving injured birds.
