In his final start as a Wolverine, Jory Jensen overcame his early struggles and allowed just two hits over his final three innings. Overall, Jensen (2-5) surrendered six run on nine hits in six innings. In two innings of relief, Riley Gordon struck out four hitters, his only blemish being Wong's home run.

TRACK AND FIELD: The Thunderbirds have settled into second place after the second day of The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the day's competition concluded at Eccles Coliseum on Friday night.

The day featured another individual title for a T-Bird in a distance event as Kevin Sandall captured the gold medal in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Sandall's race was the final event of the evening as the sophomore crossed the finish line in 9:28.33. In the women's steeplechase, Southern Utah finished second and third as Kate Call (11:32.13) and Lynzee Baxter (11:32.43) combined to score 14 points for the Thunderbirds with their respective second and third-place finish.

SUU also doubled up on the medal stand with a first- and third-place finish in the men's shot put as Carlos Valle (55 feet, 1/4 inch) claimed the gold medal with Forrest Ledbetter (51 feet, 5 1/2 inches) captured the bronze medal. The Thunderbirds narrowly missed out on a clean sweep in the event as Hector Perez finished in fourth place with a mark of 51 feet, 4 1/2 inches.

The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon wrapped up its second day of competition with Wade Nielson finishing just off the medal stand with a fourth-place finish in the decathlon after posting 6504 points. SUU's women finished third, fourth and fifth in the heptathlon with Jacki Stoddard garnering the bronze medal after a 4,672-point performance with Leah Walters (4,238) and Ashley Houle (3,787) close behind.

Southern Utah will look to make a push for the conference title after qualifying nine athletes for Saturday's finals on the women's side and 14 athletes for the finals on the men's side. The first finals on the track and scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. with field event finals beginning at 10 a.m.

BASEBALL: Southern Utah's four-game winning streak was transformed into a two-game losing streak after suffering a doubleheader sweep against South Dakota State, 7-4, 12-5 on Friday night at Brookings, S.D.

The losses drop SUU to 26-21 overall and 15-6 in Summit League play, while the Jackrabbits move to 23-28 overall and 16-10 in conference.
