WESTMINSTER

WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Westminster women's soccer team spent this past Saturday participating in the Susan G. Komen 5K Race for the Cure in Salt Lake City.

Several Westminster players, coaches, and supporters ran as a team in their pink Westminster Soccer T-Shirts. In total the event raised $261,631.34 for breast cancer research, surpassing the goal of $250,000.

"Participating in the race for the cure gave Westminster women's soccer the opportunity to show our support to those who have dealt with breast cancer in their lives," Westminster freshman Lisa Johnson said. "It allowed us to join those who are battling the disease, support those who have lost loved ones to it, and celebrate with those who have survived breast cancer. We're looking forward in doubling our participation for this great event next year."

"I am very pleased with the turnout Westminster women's soccer had," assistant coach James Taylor commented. "I am proud of the girls who enthusiastically gave up their Saturday to join such an important cause.

I am looking forward to increasing participation and fund raising for 2010."
