Smith actually had a four-foot bogey putt on the first playoff hole that would have won the title for Dixie, but she let it slide right of the cup. On the second playoff hole, after Vines, Thomas and Popovich had each hit the green on the par-3, Smith's tee shot trickled off the back. She putted from there to within four feet, which — after Vines and Thomas had two-putted for par — gave her plenty of cushion for a crown-clinching two-putt.

"I'm so proud of my teammates," Vines said. "I was pretty nervous in that playoff, but they were as calm and composed as can be."

Finishing third in the team race, with 235 points, was Bonneville. Sky View totaled 230 points to grab the fourth spot.

1A/2A GIRLS: St. Joseph, with the top two individual finishers and four of the top 12, won the inaugural 1A/2A Utah high school girls golf championship on Wednesday at Sunset View Golf Course in Delta.

The Jayhawks scored 167 Stableford points to finish comfortably ahead of South Summit and Richfield, which scored 144 and 142 points respectively.

Lexy Smith of St. Joseph edged teammate Taylor Jensen, 64 points to 60, for the medalist title. Desirae Stroh of Grand (56 points) took third, Brooke Bliss of Richfield (55 points) grabbed fourth and Sara Greenway of Monticello (54 points) earned the fifth spot.
