HILL AIR FORCE BASE — A third commander at Hill Air Force Base is being reassigned.

Col. Scott Dennis, commander of the 388th Fighter Wing, is moving on to Air Force headquarters as director of air operations at the Pentagon.

Maj. Gen. Kathleen Close, commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center, and Col. Linda Medler, commander of the 75th Air Base Wing, have both been reassigned to Air Force Materiel Command headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Medler is the only one so far to take up her new post.

Close's change-of-command ceremony is scheduled for July 2; Dennis' ceremony will take place in June.

Col. Scott Zobrist, director of operations for U.S. Forces Japan, will replace Dennis, according to the Associated Press.

Dennis has been assigned to Hill Air Force Base since July 2007. Prior to that, he was assigned as commander of 332nd Expeditionary Operations Group at Balad Air Base in Iraq between June 2006 and July 2007.

At Hill, Dennis is commander of the U.S. Air Force's largest operational Block 40 F-16 wing, with more than 70 F-16s, a ground tactical air-control squadron, the Utah Test and Training Range Squadron and about 2,500 employees.

He is also responsible for the operational oversight of more than 500 maintenance workers and operators in the 419th Fighter Wing, a reserve fighter unit at Hill.
