A man who police believe stabbed his wife and then drove her to the hospital last week was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court.
Robert Joseph Montano, 57, was charged with attempted criminal homicide, a first-degree felony, as well as a misdemeanor count of intoxication.
Police responded to LDS Hospital on May 7 and spoke with the woman, who said her husband had stabbed her with a knife when they were at their home, near 100 South and 700 East, according to the charges.
The woman was stabbed in her upper abdomen and suffered "bilateral rib fractures and a laceration to her liver, requiring surgery," the charges said.
After Montano was arrested, he told police that he hoped his wife died, according to the charges.
