OGDEN — Weber County commissioners have appointed a new chief prosecutor.
Local defense attorney Dee Smith has been named to be the new Weber County attorney, replacing Mark DeCaria, who resigned after being appointed a judge in Ogden's 2nd District Court. The Weber County Commission unanimously approved Smith's appointment during its regular meeting Tuesday, said Commissioner Jan Zogmaister.
Smith was unavailable for comment, his office said Tuesday. Not surprisingly, he was in court. A date has not been scheduled for him to be sworn in.
