PROVO — The opening celebration of Provo's Farmers Market on Saturday has added a Utahpia NOW! Tour: a San Francisco-based rock band pedaling from Logan.

The strong-legged, bicycle-riding group has added the farmers market to its tour that also includes high school assemblies and Salt Lake City's Live Green Festival, farmers market organizer Raquel Smith-Callis said.

The tour is the 4th annual Rock and Roll Bicycle Tour of Utah. Its bandleader, Gabe Dominguez, grew up in Orem. The group generates its own power for its electric instruments by asking a member of the audience to pedal a stationary bike that generates electricity.

In addition to the entertainment, Provo's Farmers Market includes a variety of organically grown produce and other items.

Provo's Farmers Market will be held every Saturday in May from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from June through October from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 100 South and 500 West. Free parking is available behind the Covey Center for the Arts.
