CENTERVILLE — A Layton man has been arrested, accused of luring a 15-year-old boy into a sexual rendezvous, and police fear there may be more victims.
An officer was en route to another call in Centerville about 1 a.m. Friday when he spotted a car parked in the road of a neighborhood under construction behind Wal-Mart.
"It was illegally parked, the lights were off but he could see people inside," Centerville Police Lt. Paul Child said Monday. "So he lit it up and spotlighted on two people in there."
The officer made contact with Mario Ruiz Ordonez, 51, and found a 15-year-old boy in the car with him. The officer quickly learned that the boy was there for a sexual rendezvous, Child said.
"This man had been texting with this boy," he said. "He had told the boy he would buy him some electronics from Wal-Mart if he would participate with him in sex acts. The boy originally agreed and they met up. But after he got with this man he told him he didn't want to participate and he was reportedly forced by the man to participate."
Ordonez was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of forcible sodomy, where he remains in lieu of $5,000 bail.
"He wasn't physically harmed," Child said of the 15-year-old boy. "According to him it was a forced thing."
Child said the boy initially came into contact with Ordonez through friends.
"There are other young boys in the south Davis area that this man is involved with, and from what I understand, someone had referred this man to this boy and given him a cell phone number," Child said.
Police said detectives have been told there are other teenage boys who may have been involved with Ordonez, but Child said none has been questioned yet.
"He's looking for young men, actively, and with the intent of engaging in sexual conduct with them," said Child. "He's enticing them with purchasing them things."
Child said anyone with information about Ordonez is urged to call the Centerville Police Department at 801-292-8441.
