Man is sought in stabbing of stepdad

Salt Lake police Friday were looking for a 19-year-old man who investigators believe stabbed his stepfather in the back with a screwdriver.

Just before 2 a.m., the teen and his stepfather were arguing at their apartment, near 2000 West and North Temple, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Robin Snyder.

The argument turned violent, and police believe the stepson stabbed the 58-year-old man in the back. The man was rushed to the hospital in serious condition with a possible collapsed lung, she said.

The search for the stepson, whose name was not released, continued Friday.

FBI releases name of boy who was killed

Federal agents have released the name of a 17-year-old boy they suspect was killed on the Navajo reservation in Utah's Four Corners area.

The FBI said Friday that Sebastian Yellowman was killed March 14, but it refused to release further details about the slaying. The FBI's Salt Lake office previously said the boy was with his brothers when he was stabbed in the head and stomach. Relatives attempted to drive him to a hospital in the Four Corners area, but he died from blood loss.

FBI agents have expressed frustration that witnesses to the killing have been unwilling to cooperate. The killing remains under investigation.

Man arrested in stabbing of wife

Police arrested a man Thursday evening after they say he stabbed his wife and then drove her to the hospital.

The couple were involved in an argument at their apartment, and at some point during that argument the man stabbed his wife in the abdomen, Salt Lake Police Lt. J.R. Nelson said.

The man, 56, then drove his wife to LDS Hospital, and hospital staff notified police, Nelson said.

Police received the information just after 6 p.m., and the man was arrested, according to Nelson.

The woman was later transferred to Intermountain Medical Center, and at press time she was in critical but stable condition.
