Man arrested after shots fired in neighborhood
A 27-year-old Logan man was arrested after firing a .22-caliber long rifle into an area where several people live, including a family that was outside setting up a basketball standard in their yard.
Logan police said the man fired several rounds and apparently one hit the standard, making it shake and sending the family quickly inside their home to call authorities.
Police arrived and began combing the area, interviewing residents in various houses, and ended up coming upon a man who claimed he had been asleep. However, he eventually admitted he had fired the gun and showed police where he kept the weapon and ammunition.
He was taken to the Cache County Jail and booked on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony; discharging a firearm within city limits, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of a firearm by an intoxicated person and disorderly conduct, which are infractions.
