MEMORIAL DAY CAMPSITES

Even though Memorial Day is still a few weeks away, it's not too early to reserve a campsite at a Utah state park.

The following parks have campsites available for the big weekend but are filling up quickly: Antelope Island, Bear Lake, Deer Creek, Fremont Indian, Huntington, Jordanelle, Red Fleet, Rockport, Scofield, Snow Canyon, Starvation, Steinaker, Utah Lake, Wasatch Mountain, Willard Bay and Yuba.

To make a reservation or for more information, call 801-322-3770 from within the Salt Lake calling area and 800-322-3770 from outside the area or visit www.stateparks.utah.gov.

BIOBLITZ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

SYRACUSE — Volunteers are needed to assist local scientists, researchers, professors, and naturalists at Antelope Island State Park on Friday and Saturday as part of the first annual BioBlitz.

A BioBlitz is a 24-hour inventory of all living organisms in a given area. Results of the BioBlitz will show the biological diversity of Antelope Island. Participants work one five-hour shift over a 24-hour period and assist area experts as they inventory insects, birds, bats, mammals and plants.

This is a great opportunity for park visitors to get a close view of life on Antelope Island. To register or for more information, call 801-721-9569 or e-mail crystalcarpenter@utah.gov.
