Sunflower Farmers Market in 6284 S. State, Murray, is celebrating National Celiac Awareness Month. On May 7, gluten-free product sampling takes place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; a tour of the store's gluten-free products is 1-2 p.m.; a cooking demonstration of kids' gluten-free snacks is 2 p.m.; and a basic class on gluten intolerance is at 6 p.m. There is also a prize drawing for a gift basket of gluten-free products. Harmons grocery stores are hosting a Mother's Day contest. Customers can fill out nomination forms at each store's service booth telling why their mothers deserve to win a special floral arrangement and a New York style cheesecake. Entries are being accepted through May 7, with each store winner selected May 8 (www.harmonsgrocery.com).
Market Street Grills, Oyster Bars and fresh fish markets are offering fresh wild halibut approximately through June 13. Some of the featured entrees include Halibut Oscar Seafood Florentine, Halibut Louie, and Halibut & Shrimp with avocado and hollandaise. Free chef recipes are available at the markets for those who want to cook their seafood at home.
