WILLARD — A rare and small tornado whirled its way to the ground in Willard Sunday evening, snapping a few trees and tossing around an ATV trailer.

"We have about two or three of these little ones a year," said Pete Wilensky, National Weather Service forecaster.

The tornado registered at the lowest level of a six-level rating system, an EFO; the strongest are rated EF5.

The tornado ripped through the small city with winds gusting between 40 and 72 mph for about one mile, according to the NWS.

There were no injuries but the gale force winds did uproot trees and tear off siding.
