Salt Lake police were looking Monday for two men who officers say kidnapped a man, assaulted and robbed him, and then dumped him on a remote Salt Lake road.
Just before 12:30 a.m., a man was riding a bicycle near 200 South and 400 West when a car with two men pulled up next to him and asked if they could buy drugs, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan. The men then got out of the vehicle, hit him in the head with a gun and forced him into their car, he said.
The group drove to a remote area near 2000 North and 800 West, hit the victim again with a gun, took his cell phone, wallet, house key and shoes, and threw him out of the car, McGowan said. The victim was able to walk down the road until he found a Utah Highway Patrol trooper.
Investigators were looking Monday for a brown, late-model sedan. The victim told police he was riding his bicycle home from a friend's house when he was assaulted, McGowan said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-799-INFO (4636).
