A variety of projects at the Tooele Army Depot are slated to receive $4 million in funding as part of the economic stimulus package.
The announcement, made Wednesday by the Department of Defense, identified construction, safety and energy projects as recipients of the funding.
Authorized projects for the depot include minor family housing repairs, repairing fire suppression systems, installing solar walls on 14 buildings and completing road repairs.
"The funding in the Recovery Act will help provide needed jobs in Tooele County and the state," said Col. Yolanda Dennis-Lowman, depot commander. "As a member of the local community and the state of Utah, we are proud to be part of the effort that will help our economy recover during these hard times."
Depot officials said they intend to move aggressively on these projects to gain maximum job impact and complete upgrades to aging facilities.
"The funds provided to TEAD not only help create jobs locally but provide much needed infrastructure upgrades," said Dennis-Lowman.
