The Empty Bowls Project, a fundraiser for the Homeless Youth Shelter in Salt Lake City, takes place April 30, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Brighton High School, 2220 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South).

Students in ceramics classes have created bowls, and the culinary arts students will fill them with soup. For a donation of $10, guests can enjoy the meal of soup and bread, and keep the bowl as a reminder that there are always "empty bowls" in the world. The event takes place in the school's restaurant, The View (801-256-5200).

Domino's Pizza is offering customers a free order of its new BreadBowl Pasta April 29, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The offer is good for carry-out customers only. The menu item is a lightly seasoned bread bowl baked around the pasta. Starting at $5.99, varieties include Three Cheese Mac-N-Cheese, Italian Sausage Marinara, Chicken Alfredo, Pasta Primavera and Build Your Own Pasta.

Baskin-Robbins is hosting 31 Cent Scoop Night April 29, 5-10 p.m. Customers can buy ice cream scoops for 31 cents. The stores will also raise funds for the Junior Firefighter Program.

Poundcake's Eats & Entertainment opened last week on the north side of Trolley Square, at 500 S. 600 East, the space formerly occupied by Hard Rock Cafe.

The restaurant offers "New American" cuisine and a full-service bar, and is open daily, 11 a.m.-midnight. Customers can also order meals to take upstairs to enjoy at Wiseguys Comedy Cafe, which also opened last week. Showtimes for the comedy club are 8 and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Whole Foods Market is offering Forest Stewardship Council certified paper bags at its checkout counters beginning in May.

The FSC is an international nonprofit group that promotes the responsible management of the world's forests and offers a comprehensive standard for certification of forest products.

The company also promotes the use of reusable bags in its stores.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro is making its signature Chang's for Two menu available for promgoers this spring. At $39.95 per couple, the four-course, prix-fixe dining deal offers a choice of dishes including chicken lettuce wraps, dumplings, Chang's spicy chicken, Kung Pao chicken or shrimp, Mongolian beef, beef with broccoli and the popular mini-dessert spread.
