Sanpete County Sheriff's Office is investigating the whereabouts of the body of a stillborn baby believed to be in the county dump.

Sheriff's detectives say a minor delivered a stillborn child sometime last week.

"The juvenile took the baby and placed it in a Dumpster," Sanpete Sheriff Sgt. Greg Peterson said in a press statement.

Now detectives believe the body is somewhere in Sanpete County's White Hills Landfill near Mayfield.

Detectives say the landfill "has been secured" and authorities are still determining the best approach to locate the body in a landfill where much of the county's residential waste is dumped.

The teen mother has not been charged with any crime.
