NEW FILMS FRIDAY

DELIGHTFUL WATER UNIVERSE — ★★ — More crackpot weirdness that's as odd as anything Utahn Trent Harris has done. Running time: 86 minutes, not rated, probable R (vulgarity, sex, violence, profanity, drugs, torture, slurs, brief nudity)

FIGHTING — ★★ — A silly yet sometimes entertaining variation on the "Big Fight" movie formula. Running time: 105 minutes, PG-13 (violence, sex, profanity)— Roger Moore, The Orlando Sentinel

GIGANTIC — ★½ — There's nothing really appealing or funny about these people or their predicaments. Running time: 98 minutes, R (profanity, violence, vulgarity, slurs, sex, brief drugs, brief gore, brief nudity)

HUNGER — ★★★½ — Those who are able to stand the film's assault won't be able to shake it off. Running time: 96 minutes, not rated, probable R (violence, profanity, nudity, torture, gore, slurs, vulgarity, brief drugs)

THE INFORMERS — ★ — A disastrous train wreck of a movie based on the Bret Easton Ellis story collection. Running time: 97 minutes, R (profanity, drugs, nudity, violence, vulgarity, sex, gore, slurs)

OBSESSED — Idris Elba is stalked by co-worker Ali Larter in this thriller. To be reviewed next week, running time: 100 minutes, PG-13 (vulgarity, profanity, violence)

THE SOLOIST — ★★★ — Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx's performances make up for this drama's occasional missteps. Running time: 119 minutes, PG-13 (drugs, profanity) — Bill Goodykoontz, The Arizona Republic
