TACOMA, Wash. — Sean Rodriguez belted two homers and drove in four runs to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 10-1 rout of the Tacoma Rainiers on Tuesday night.
Rodriguez put the Bees out front with a two-out, three-run homer in the first inning off Tacoma starter Gaby Hernandez (0-1). Bobby Wilson made it back-to-back blasts to give the Bees a 4-0 lead. Rodriguez later added a single in the fifth and ripped a solo homer in the seventh.
Matt Palmer, who was originally scheduled to start, was a late scratch, so Salt Lake manager Bobby Mitchell turned the game over to the Bees' bullpen. Five Salt Lake pitchers combined to allow just one run on six hits and strikeout eight Rainiers in the win.
