HURRICANE, Washington County — A man fleeing from police tossed a duffel bag full of marijuana into traffic, but it didn't stop him from being caught, deputies said.
On Sunday, a Washington County sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Nebraska man, for a traffic violation. The deputy became suspicious and asked the man to step out of his vehicle. Instead, the man put the car in gear and drove off.
Police said speeds on I-15 reached more than 100 mph. During the chase, police said the deputy watched as the man threw a duffel bag from the speeding car. Another deputy picked up the bag, finding 10 pounds of marijuana and two ounces of hashish inside.
The man was caught and booked into jail on investigation of drug offenses.
