The South Salt Lake Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating memorabilia stolen from the Sandlot Baseball Academy on April 11.
Gary Keller, the departments public information officer, said the owners of the academy at 815 W. 2400 South, went to the building to pick up some Salt Lake Bee's tickets and found damage to the entrance and signs of a burglary. Police have cased the building and are screening evidence for fingerprints. Police say the items stolen are easily disposed of, and Keller said he is worried they will be sold.
The items stolen included an autographed baseball (All-American Girls Pro Baseball League), a Panasonic 50-inch plasma TV, an oil painting autographed by Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer, framed black and white classic baseball prints, 100 Bees tickets, an HP laptop, baseball clothing, office equipment and concession snacks.
"It looks like they grabbed things they could turn around for cash fast," Keller said.
Police are encouraging members of the community residents to provide any information they might have related to the missing items by contacting the South Salt Lake Dispatch Center at 801-840-8000.
