HIGHLAND — A 6-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday after being struck by a car.

The Lone Peak Police Department said the boy had walked to a mailbox near his home about 9 a.m. and was crossing the street near 6658 Canterbury Lane to return when he was struck by a sedan driven by a 65-year-old man.

"This incident is still under investigation, however preliminary investigation shows no immediate indication of speed or other traffic violations by the driver of the vehicle," police said in a statement.

The boy was flown by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake hospital. His condition was unknown, police said.
