In addition, Ray Whitney (Carolina; Grizzlies 1996-97) who won a Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2006, will be looking to get his name engraved on the hardware for a second time, while Scott Niedermayer (Anaheim; Grizzlies 1998-99) will be looking for his fifth championship.

Finally, John Erskine (Washington; Grizzlies 2000-04) and Frederic Sjostrom (New York Rangers; Grizzlies 2004-05) will square off against each other in the first round beginning tonight.

At the start of the season, 16 former Grizzlies were on NHL rosters while four ECHL Grizzlies played in the NHL for the first time during the 2008-09 season: Peter Mannino, Andrew MacDonald, Trevor Smith and Joel Rechlicz.
