ELK RIDGE — A 36-year-old man who had been missing since Tuesday afternoon is safe and sound after returning to his parents' home Wednesday evening.
BYU police had asked for help in locating Thayne Ford earlier in the day Wednesday, and just before 9:30 p.m., Ford showed up at his parents' front door in Elk Ridge, after he was located and dropped off by a concerned citizen.
"Somebody picked him up and took him to his house," BYU Police Lt. Arnie Lemmon said. "He told his father he spent last night in the rain."
Lemmon said it was still unclear where Ford spent the night and where he was eventually found.
Ford had last been seen at about 2 p.m. Tuesday while visiting his father on the east side of the BYU campus, Lemmon said.
Ford's parents were concerned about him because of an illness requiring medication.
"Without his medication he becomes disoriented, and at times, wanders," Lemmon said.
