LOGAN — A Smithfield man involved in a crash on U.S. 89 has died from his injuries.

The Utah Highway Patrol said Ryan Leishman, 20, was one of four passengers in a 1994 Chrysler that was northbound on U.S. 89 near 2855 South on Friday when the vehicle drifted over the center line, crossing the median and venturing into southbound lanes. The car slammed into a telephone pole and a tree.

Three of the people in the car were treated for their injuries at Logan Regional Hospital. Troopers said Leishman was flown by medical helicopter to Ogden's McKay-Dee Hospital Center, where he died on Tuesday.

The UHP said troopers continue to investigate the cause of the crash, including possible signs of impairment involving the driver.
