PROVO — A 63-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon in a rollover on southbound I-15 in Provo.
Around 3:45 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol troopers responded to mile marker 261 on I-15, just on the border of Springville and Provo to find two people ejected from a vehicle.
Siu Visesio and a 7-year-old girl were thrown from the car when it rolled, said UHP Lt. Steve Winward. Visesio was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 5-year-old in the car was flown with the 7-year-old to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, and a 37-year-old woman in critical condition was transported via ambulance to the hospital, Winward said.
After a preliminary investigation, officers believe the car rolled when the tread came off of one of the tires, Winward said.
Traffic was closed for more than an hour to allow the helicopter to land. Southbound drivers are encouraged to exit I-15 at University Parkway, the Provo Center Street exit or the University Avenue exit.
Officers are still investigating to determine whether seat belts were worn.
