PROVO — President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency of the LDS Church, will receive an honorary doctorate degree during Brigham Young University's spring 2009 commencement, while also presiding over the event.
President Uchtdorf will also address the graduates during the exercises on April 23. Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will also speak during the commencement.
The program will include student speaker Joseph R. Nance, and a musical number by the BYU Singers. Proceedings will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV Ch. 11 and KBYU-FM, 89.1.
Most campus offices will be closed at 2:30 p.m. April 23 to accommodate the services. Individual college convocations will be held on April 24 and more information, including the schedule of events, can be found online at graduation.byu.edu.
