As taxpayers scramble to collect information and prepare their income taxes to meet the April 15 midnight deadline, the Utah State Tax Commission encourages electronic filing.
"It saves time, reduces costs, and helps ensure accuracy," says Charlie Roberts, Tax Commission spokesman.
Taxmaster@utah.gov and live Web chat services are available, with agents responding during regular business hours. After-hour and weekend requests will be responded to within 48 hours.
The Tax Commission office, 210 N. 1950 West, Salt Lake City, will have tax return drop-off available until midnight on April 15.
Tax Commission offices in Ogden, Salt Lake City, Provo, and Washington County are open Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Forms, assistance, filing extension information and return filing are available at all offices during those hours. Frequently asked questions, including filing extension information and forms are available at www.incometax.utah.gov. Tax Express, Utah's online state income tax filing option for qualified filers, is also found at that Web site.
