PROVO — E. Jeffrey Hill, a Brigham Young University associate professor of family life, discussed "Balancing Work and Family," at the BYU Conference on Family Life.

Hill offered a decidedly unique perspective about family life because of his professional and personal experiences.

He worked for IBM for more than 20 years as a researcher and expert in work and family issues, helping to pioneer telecommuting at IBM in the early 1990s.

In 2005, his wife passed away. Hill subsequently remarried, forming a blended family with 12 children — eight from his first marriage, and four that his wife Tammy had with her first husband, who died.
