IRON MISSION HISTORY CAMP
CEDAR CITY — Iron Mission State Park Museum announces the return of "We Must Have Iron," a three-day interactive history camp for children ages 9 to 11.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day and offers two sessions — June 10-12 and Aug. 5-7. Participation is limited to 24 participants in each camp.
During the camp, participants attend pioneer school, learn valuable pioneer skills, apprentice in various trades such as pioneer music, weaving, and cannoneering. Handcarts are used to trek to a new homestead and construct a log cabin, and build a new community. They learn the basics of early mining and help create the new Iron County of 1851, celebrating their successful migration and settlement of Iron County on the final day.
The cost is $125 per child and covers the many items each child makes to take home. Registration ends May 15 for the first camp and July 15 for the second.
