Two of Utah's major freeways are being shut down because of wrecks in the winter weather.

The Utah Highway Patrol said a crash has closed I-15 near 14600 South. The freeway is closed while crews move the wrecked vehicles and snowplows are able to get over Point of the Mountain.

"We are getting more crashes due to the snow," UHP trooper Cameron Roden said.

On I-80, the road is being partially closed near 700 East because of the weather. UDOT said high winds, blowing snow and icy roads can be expected on I-80 near Parleys Summit, U.S. 89 from Brigham City to Logan, U.S. 40 east of Heber City, U.S. 6 from Spanish Fork to Helper, in both Big and Little Cottonwood canyons, I-70 in Salina and Tooele County.
