This is not about shunning Democrats or "accepting" Republicans. It's not about quoting one pundit or another. It's about following LDS principles. It's about choice: the choice not to associate with a political philosophy that contradicts LDS principles.
What about abortion, profligate spending, gay rights, lack of accountability, cradle-to-grave programs and socialism. Democrats, often strongly and loudly, support all of these things. LDS teachings do not.
I'm not worried about parties. Democrats don't match my core values. Too often, Republicans act like Democrats. Contrary to the writer's assertion, I'm not shunning her. I'm shunning her beliefs.
