A man has been arrested for investigation of multiple counts of sexually abusing a young girl, and detectives fear there may be other victims.
Scott Allen Ball, 37, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of 10 counts of rape of a child and 10 counts of sodomy of a child. His victim, according to detectives, was the 9-year-old daughter of his ex-girlfriend.
Ball and the woman lived together and he abused her daughter from April 2006 until July 2007, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson.
It wasn't until March 2008, however, that the sheriff's office received a report about the possible abuse. By that time, the woman and Ball were not living together. It was only recently that deputies were able to get in touch with the alleged victim.
Since Ball and the woman broke up, Hutson said, he has lived with other women who also have young daughters.
Anyone with information on Ball is asked to call the sheriff's office at 801-743-7000.
