MOAB — A Wyoming man was injured in an ATV accident over the weekend.
The Grand County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called Saturday to the Fins and Things trail where Van Hale, 52, of Afton, Wyo., had been injured. Deputies said Hale was assisting fellow riders trying to get a two-wheel-drive Honda ATV up an embankment.
"Van was acting as a counter balance on the front rack of the ATV when he was thrown from the ATV," Sheriff Jim Nyland said in a statement Monday. "The ATV then rolled over the top of Van."
Hale broke his wrist and injured his lower back, deputies said. He was taken to a local hospital and then to University Hospital in Salt Lake City for treatment.
