Chemistry professor to speak Tuesday at Y.
PROVO — A chemistry professor researching gas phase ion chemistry will address the public Tuesday at 11:05 a.m. in Brigham Young University's Marriott Center.
David Dearden, who works in BYU's department of chemistry and biochemistry, also studies the use of Fourier transform mass spectrometry to characterize prototypical molecular machines. By studying chemicals in the gas phase, he hopes to gain better understanding of complex chemical processes.
Dearden came to BYU in 1994 from the University of Texas at Arlington, where he won a National Science Foundation Young Investigator award. He received his bachelor's degree from BYU, his doctorate from the California Institute of Technology and did his postdoctoral studies at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
