FAIRFIELD — Firing a musket and playing 19th-century games are a few
of the things girls can learn at the Ladies of Camp Floyd Day Camp,
which is designed to teach participants ages 8 to 11 some of the
everyday activities faced by women of the 19th century.Participants
will also wear period dress, meet costumed interpreters, construct a
rag doll and learn a period dance.
The camp is at Camp Floyd Stagecoach Inn State Park and Museum in
Fairfield — in Cedar Valley west of Lehi — and is designed to complete
the requirements for the Girl Scouts folk arts badge and is also
appropriate for an LDS girls activity day event.The event is limited to
24 participants (including adults) and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Reservations and $15 camp fee are required.
Camp dates for the 2009-10 season are April 4, Nov. 14, Dec. 5 and Jan. 16.For information, call 801-768-8932.
