I listened with incredulity as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed that weapons smuggled into Mexico from the United States were being used by Mexican drug cartels. Let's assume this is true. So we have guns being smuggled into Mexico. We also have drugs, illegal immigrants and terrorists being smuggled across the Mexican border in the other direction. May I suggest that effectively controlling our borders is the solution to all of these problems? If no drugs could get across the border, the drug cartels would be out of business. It may be difficult and expensive to control the border, but wouldn't this be a cost-effective solution to all of these serious problems?
