PROVO — A high-speed chase on I-15 in Utah County Thursday ended with the car of the man who was fleeing from troopers being overturned.
The Utah Highway Patrol received several reports just after 5 p.m. of a man who was driving his vehicle recklessly on southbound I-15 near the Point of the Mountain, UHP trooper Cameron Roden said.
Troopers got behind the vehicle as it passed through Lindon and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not respond to their signals. A trooper used his vehicle to hit the fleeing car using what is called the pit maneuver just after it passed through the first S-curve.
"It spun the vehicle to the left, (causing the vehicle to) hit the barrier and flip over on its top," Roden said.
Roden said the man was taken into custody and then transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Roden said it appears the man was under the influence of drugs.
Lanes were closed on southbound I-15 near the crash sight, which caused long delays for many commuters.
