OREM — Police are asking for help identifying a man they believe robbed an Orem business and tried to rob another one.
Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, police say, an employee at Milo Sports, 359 E. University Parkway, was walking behind the counter when a man grabbed him and demanded money.
The man, roughly 6 feet tall with sandy blond hair, was wearing a light green jacket, tan baseball cap and a black wedding band. He had been coming in and out of the store previously, most likely waiting for other customers to leave, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards.
As the cashier was trying to get money from the register, another customer walked in, and the cashier yelled he was being robbed, Edwards said.
The would-be robber ran out. However, the employee waited nearly 40 minutes before he called police.
In the meantime, around 3:15 p.m. the same robber struck again at White Elegance, 560 E. University Parkway, Edwards said. This time, the store was empty, and the man pretended to be interested in a piece of merchandise.
When the clerk went to put it back, the man grabbed her from behind and demanded money. The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, and he ran off.
Neither clerk was hurt.
Anyone with information regarding the robberies should contact Orem police at 801-229-7070.
