Cutthroat professions such as in medicine and business are often seen as strongly biased against women in the highest positions of power. It is unfortunate that we don't see women as doctors and CEOs of companies as often as we should. For this reason, it always gives me great satisfaction to see Fortune magazine's annual listing of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. This publication allows me to believe that as a woman in high school holding the highest office in Utah's DECA organization of more than 1,700 people, I may one day be able to contend with such business heavyweights as Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo or Susan Arnold of Procter & Gamble. I recognize that innovation and change are imperative to running a successful business and I believe I have witnessed enough of this change to implement it into any business dealing I may observe in the future.

SCHOLARSHIP: Ranks 118 out of 499; GPA is 3.5; ACT is 33.

AWARDS AND PROJECTS: Utah DECA president; top 10 at the national DECA competition; first place at DECA state competition; student body president; Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Award.
