West Valley puts ultimate fighting ordinance on hold

WEST VALLEY CITY — The City Council here has delayed a decision on the regulation of ultimate fighting.

The council had been planning to vote Tuesday on an ordinance that would have restricted hand-to-hand combat events to the E Center.

Before the meeting, concerns were raised about new state legislation that might affect the ordinance, said city manger Wayne Pyle. The city will now consider regulating the martial arts events with business licenses rather than land-use laws alone.
