The annual Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, March 28, will help stock the shelves of Utah Food Bank Services and emergency food pantries and agencies statewide.
Cub Scouts will deliver bags to every Utah house this week. Each home may fill the bag with nutritious food such as canned fruit, vegetables and meat and place it on the doorstep by 9 a.m. Saturday.
Boy Scouts will go house-to-house to collect the filled bags to deliver to Utah Food Bank Services, local emergency food pantries and agencies as well as designated drop-off points throughout the state. YRA, XtraLease and the Utah National Guard will all help to transport the donations from drop-off points to the emergency food network.
Last year, the drive generated approximately 1 million pounds of food. Utah Food Bank Services provides food to a statewide network of over 230 agencies and community centers.
