A construction worker who was hit by a car after he had stepped out of his vehicle on a residential street in Salt Lake City has died from his injuries.
Kelly Dale Almond, 53, was working on a roof at 307 W. 400 North on March 17 when he went to get something from his vehicle. His truck was parked next to the curb of the wide street. As he stepped back out of his car, Almond was hit by a car that witnesses say was going very fast. Almond suffered extensive head injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died Friday, according to police.
The driver told investigators he looked way from the road for a moment and veered to the right for an unknown reason. Charges against him were pending Monday.
