Tooele law officers say the 18-year-old man injured in a head-on collision Saturday that killed three others is in stable condition.
At around 4 p.m. Jacob Ryan White, a resident of Stansbury Park, was driving along state Route 138 when police say he apparently fell asleep, causing his car to cross into oncoming traffic and strike another vehicle head-on, said trooper Clint Sawson with the Tooele County Sheriff's Office. White, who was wearing a seat belt, broke his femur and suffered internal injuries. Lawmen referred to his health condition on Sunday as being "out of the woods."
The three occupants in the second vehicle, 19-year-old Bailey Corless of Grantsville, 23-year-old Kendra Naisbitt of Bluffdale and 19-year-old Taft Ahlstrom of Grantsville, all perished. Each had to be extricated from the badly damaged vehicle.
Police said investigation reports will be reviewed by the Tooele County Attorney's Office before a determination is made on whether charges or citations are warranted.
