PROVO — It's spring-cleaning time and the Utah County Division of Environmental Health has a "honey-do" list for everyone.
The department is teaming up with North Pointe Solid Waste Special Service District and the South Utah Valley Solid Waste District for Hazardous Household Waste Collection Day.
The waste-collection companies are making the disposal of certain household items easy from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the Novell parking area in Provo's East Bay. Any resident of Utah County can take their hazardous waste to the collection point.
Waste that will be accepted includes fuels, antifreeze, solvents, thinners, cleaners and other chemicals, lubricants and paints. Containers must be no more than 5 gallons. Solid-waste collectors want the waste products left in their original containers, capped or sealed. But there are some things waste collectors don't want — including live ammo, explosives or commercial waste.
Other options to get rid of waste include taking used oil to automotive stores or oil change shops and usable paint or other construction materials to Habitat for Humanity in Provo.
For a complete list of what to bring to the collection day and what to leave home go to the SUVSWD Web site at www.suvswd.org.
