To launch "Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary," Brandon Mull and his publisher, Shadow Mountain, are planning a big party.
The event will be held at Cottonwood High School on Tuesday, March 24. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the program will start at 6:30 p.m.
Featured entertainers include LOL, a young local recording group; University of Utah ballet dancers portraying fairies; comedy sketches from BYU's Divine Comedy group; a presentation by the author; and a book signing.
"It will have a cool concert atmosphere," says Mull. "It's really a unique way to launch a book, and not the kind of event you often get to go to for free." And, in fact, he knows of quite a few people who are coming from out of state to attend.
"Something like this lets fans get together and talk about the books. There's a lot of camaraderie. It's reinforcing for readers to know they are not the only ones on the planet who like a book. It's a chance for die-hard fans to come geek out — and I mean that as a compliment."
Contests for backstage passes are being held at Wasatch Front Deseret Book stores. Check with your local store for more information.
