Are Sens. Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett hypocrites? No! But they inserted "earmarks" into the recent budget and then voted against the bill because of the earmarks. Fortunately!
By putting in earmarks, the Utah senators protected Utah taxpayer interest. They tried to defeat the bill but had enough sense to put in earmarks so that if passed, Utah would get some of its tax money back instead of it all going to other states.
