Charges against two of the men who were arrested in connection with the burglary of Olympic bicyclist and Salt Lake resident David Zabriskie's home were filed in 3rd District Court Thursday.

Leopold Jay Howard, 39, was charged with two counts of burglary, as well as four counts of theft, all of which are second-degree felonies.

According to court records, Craig William Carlisle, 43, who police say also was involved in the incident, was charged with receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, a second-degree felony, and three separate counts of theft by receiving stolen property, all of which ranged from a third-degree felony to a class B misdemeanor. He also was charged with possession of another's identification documents, a class A misdemeanor.

A third man, Arthur Roll, 30, was arrested and charged in late February with theft by receiving stolen property, according to court records.

Police said people broke into Zabriskie's house while he was away at a race and took about $250,000 in property, including two cars, 13 bicycles and electronics.

Howard's charges state that he told detectives that he and others went into the home on Feb. 15 and again on Feb. 16 to steal the property and the two cars.

A break in the case came in late February when detectives investigating another case came across one of Zabriskie's missing vehicles. Roll was arrested for investigation of possessing the stolen car at the time.

Police said after the arrests of Howard and Carlisle that they believed Howard was the main person responsible for the burglary.
