Despite a rather vicious review from judge Simon Cowell, Utahn Megan Joy Corkrey survived to sing another week on "American Idol." The Sandy woman did not end up in the bottom two when the viewers' votes were tallied.
Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez were not as lucky — they were eliminated.
Corkrey's rendition of "Rockin' Robin" on Tuesday was deemed memorable by judges Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul, but Cowell criticized her song choice as "stupid," said her vocals "weren't very good," her dancing "was verging on ridiculous" and called her entire performance "clumsy and awkward."
But none of that mattered, apparently, when viewers voted. Corkrey will return Tuesday (7 p.m., Ch. 13) with the rest of this season's Final 11.
